Hunter Douglas is a world market leader in window coverings and a major manufacturer of architectural products. The Hunter Douglas Group has its head office in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and a management office in Luzern, Switzerland. The Group is made up of 157 companies with 64 manufacturing and 93 assembly operations and marketing organisations in more that 100 countries.

The Group’s origins go back to 1919, when Henry Sonnenberg established the Hunter Douglas Corporation in association with Joe Hunter, a gifted inventor. They developed a revolutionary continuous casting process for aluminium and developed novel aluminium strip processing equipment. Based on this technology, they produced and commercialised the modern metal Venetian blind, which quickly gained leadership in the American market. In 1956 the company moved its headquarters to Montreal in Canada and in 1971 the Group’s headquarters were transferred to Rotterdam in The Netherlands. Its management office opened in Switzerland in the 1990s.
